Invitations & Decorations: The first step towards creating the perfect Dr. Seuss-inspired party is getting all your guests excited with fun and inviting invitations! You can use colorful card stock paper in different shapes such as cats, hats, or truffula trees and use phrases like “Oh the places you’ll go!” or “Happy Birthday from Whoville!” to really capture the spirit of Dr. Seuss in your invitations. To really get into the theme, you can also print out characters from his books and hang them up around the party area for decorations.

Crafts: You can bring your favorite characters to life with these Thing 1 Thing 2 Corner Bookmarks! You can create these with colored craft papers, a pencil (to trace the printable template which is down below), craft glue, a Sharpie or gel pen, and a pair of scissors.

Dr Seuss Bookmark Template

Download and print the bookmark PDF to get started. Select white, blue and red colored craft papers for the Thing 1 Thing 2 corner bookmarks.

Trace the hair on blue, rectangle piece on red and the head and round shape on white paper. Cut out the patterns nicely.

Take a piece of square paper (we’re using a 16 cm X 16 cm piece) and craft an origami corner bookmark with it. If you don’t know how to make an origami bookmark, this tutorial is a good start.

We are going to work on the square side of the corner bookmark.

Attach the hair cutout on the closed corner of the bookmark. Overlap the straight side of the hair with the bookmark’s corner by a cm and keep the scalloped side of the hair outside the bookmark layout.

Attach the rectangle cutout on the bookmark base, below and adjacent to the hair’s straight side.

Attach the head cutout on the rectangle part, below the hair part.

Attach the round shape below the head, keeping a 1 cm gap.

Cut off extra sides of the rectangle part and align it with the bookmark layout.

Use a sharpie to draw the face of the character and write down the number on the round shape.

Similarly, craft the other character.
