Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax – Happy Birthday, Dr. Seuss

The kids and I were given a chance to see Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax on my 30th birthday last Saturday. The kids and I are huge Dr. Seuss fans. I believe we own just about every single Dr. Seuss book and read them regularly. Dr. Seuss books are what taught my children how to rhyme words and I believe Dr. Seuss books are also what started Gabby’s love for reading.

Today is Dr. Seuss’ birthday and in celebration The Lorax comes out to theaters every where. I highly recommend taking your family to see the movie. As we were walking out of the theater Noah looked at me and said ‘that movie was great!’ and he truly meant it. We were all extremely pleased.

Not only was the movie a truly enjoyable family friendly experience it also taught several lessons. The Lorax is the keeper of the earth and trees. He was summoned once a tree was cut down. The whole story focuses on taking care of our Earth but also has several mini lessons within the plot. It teaches children what happens when you go back on your word, when you lie and where selfishness gets you. With all these great lessons I must say my favorite is the lesson towards the end where it teaches kids that it’s never too late to fix a mistake and it’s never too late to do the right thing.

The Lorax was a very bright and colorful movie. Family members of all ages will find it entertaining. The picture is mesmerizing enough to hold the attention of little ones and the plot is thick enough to entertain the adults. There are quite a few funny parts that kept my kids giggling. The movie is set in the future so my family found it interesting to see the disco-ball trees that light up!

When I asked Noah what his favorite part was he said:

I thought it was funny when the boy rang the door bell and flew up in the air and when he gave his grandma a ride on his motorcycle

Gabby said her favorite part was:

I loved when the Lorax appeared and the part where the bear was in the refrigerator. It was funny to see him eat a full stick of butter.
