Sponsor a Child with Compassion
Back in April I took my teen daughter, T, to see Newsboys live in concert. We love their music and after watching the movie God’s Not Dead I knew I wanted to see them perform in person. The concert was local to us and we had an absolute blast! Hands down one of my favorite concerts attended. We were in the first group of attendees to select our seats and decided to sit almost completely center to the stage one level up so we had a better view without the need to look over the people in front of us. We are short…
During the intermission a man got on stage and shared his story of his test of faith. He then shared his mission of working with Compassion International. I love helping children. I would give a home to every child without one. I would feed meals to every child that’s hungry. I would mother every child that’s alone. If I was able… So at that moment my teen and I were lead to get up and sponsor a child.
Since I have three daughters at home and one daughter that is from China {our foreign exchange student} and only two sons, we decided it was best to sponsor a little boy. Trying to even out the dynamics of the family. Brazil is a place that T and I have always wanted to visit so sponsoring Iarly seemed like the best fit.
Meet Iarly Kennedy De Melo Galvao. Wow, that’s a long name. He is about to turn five. He lives with his aunt and isn’t in school yet. He does attend some church services and his responsibilities at home are running errands. Running errands… at four years old. He lives in poverty and it breaks my heart. For only $38 a month I am able to help make Iarly’s life a little easier. Our family is able to send him letters and the staff at Compassion International are able to help him write us back. We can send photos, stickers and other flat items in our envelopes and we can donate money towards a birthday and Christmas present for him.
Iarly has already been told our family is sponsoring him and I hope it gives him some faith that the world is not a bad place.
After sponsoring Iarly I was able to enjoy the rest of the concert fulfilled. I felt truly blessed to have the opportunity to reach out and make a difference all the way in Brazil from my hometown.
I even captured a short clip from the concert that I shared on Instagram. Watch below and sing along. God’s Not Dead!
