Regulate your room temperature

There has been lots of research about what the best temperature is to get a good night sleep. It’s a tricky one! Would you believe, there is science to back it up? How does it work? Well..

When you sleep, your body is trying to reach a temperature suitable for sleep. If your body temperature is too high, it makes it difficult for it to get it. Experts suggest your thermostat somewhere around 65 degrees. This way, it’s easier for your body to reach the optimal temperature for sleep. Clever, huh?

It’ll also impact our quality of REM sleep, too. During REM (rapid eye movement) we experience dreaming, a faster pulse and more movement.

If you need a thermostat, you can find residential air conditioning services here: http://www.advantageairllc.com/

Remove any distractions

Your bedroom should have no distractions. Be sure to remove the clutter in your room. A messy bedroom could be distracting and leave your mind wandering.

Invest in some blackout blinds or heavy curtains to block out any light. If you can’t block the light out of your room, then you can always buy a sleeping mask. It’s cheap and does the job!

If you’ve got noisy neighbours or anything else keeping you up, try and resolve it. But if you can’t, then buy some noise blocking plugs. They are a little uncomfortable at first, but you get used to them. It’ll also be worth it to have complete silence!

Download hypnosis recordings

If silence isn’t your thing, then consider a hypnosis recording. Sometimes, if we’ve been trying to sleep for a long time, our brain can start going round in circles.

The best thing to do is find a free hypnosis video on YouTube and listen to it before you go to bed. The more you use hypnosis programs, the better they’ll work as well.

Don’t like sleeping in earbuds? Some pillows have built-in speakers if you find headphones uncomfortable. They are available online at most technology stores.

Fill your room with lavender

Lavender will not only make your room smell amazing, but it will also help you get to sleep.

Diffusing some lavender essential oil an hour before you go to sleep is a great way to relax your mind and body.

If you love the smell (like I do!), then you can get lavender pouches to hide under your pillow. Or you can always put a few drops of oil on your bedding.
