Spare Time School Schedules
School can be an exciting time for both children and their parents. It is a chance for them to get immersed in the world of education and let their imaginations flourish, develop and learn basics which will help them on their journey into adulthood. For parents, it frees up quite a lot of time (and in some cases money, if they are no longer attending nursery), and for many they would like to do something constructive with these newly-found hours, past the initial relax phase.
Here are some great things to do with your time which can benefit both you and your child.
Get Organized
It will come as no surprise that the organisation that is required to send a child to school happy, healthy and well-prepared for the day is quite a feat. Setting up a schedule for both you and them can prove to be a great help. If you get your meals planned for the week and make sure that their clothes are laid out and ready for them in the morning, you have conquered half the battle; feeding and getting dressed can take up such a chunk of your day if you don’t have the stuff there ready, and a lot of time can be wasted on finding outfits that could be spend on much better things.
Help The Teacher
Teachers have to prepare so much for not just your child, but a number of other children as well – who all have different wants, needs and learning styles. Ask if you could help and do anything for the classroom at home. This could be anything from filling up paint and glue pots to helping with displays. If this is your child’s first year at school, you could make a Back to School Bulletin Board to help everybody in the class get to know each other; they could even help out with the crafts involved to make it, which would be both fun and useful!
Get Fit
Taking up a new sport or hobby can be beneficial to your health and wellbeing. Not only will it lift your mood, but you will be setting a great example to your child. They may even like to get involved; if it is a competitive sport with more than one player, then you could make it into an after-school activity. It may turn into a bit more than a hobby – you could offer coaching and mentoring for school sports teams if it is something that you find that you are really enjoying, and schools and after-school clubs are always so appreciative of the help.
You may find that your time is filled so quickly that you don’t have time to offer any help or assistance, and that is okay … this is quite frankly a luxury that only a few will be able to afford to give, but also offers a solution if you have a couple of hours in the day that you don’t know how to fill when the house is quiet.
