The Ritz, Titty Bars, New Orleans Style Partying and Nicolas Cage Gets Arrested

What a weekend!  While attending the Mom 2.0 Summit at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in the French Quarter of New Orleans learning wasn’t the only venture everyone got to partake in. Networking with amazing people, connecting with like-minded brands, sipping cocktails, receiving complimentary foot massages all while relaxing in the same penthouse suite that Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie stayed in during one of their previous visits to NOLAWhat more could a girl ask for? Did I mention it was a comfortable cute pajama party on top of that?  The luxury of the Ritz-Carlton was breath-taking.

Walking the streets of New Orleans, where many people still thought Mardi Gras was going on was a sight to see, to say the least.  Lining Bourbon St. there had to be more titty bars than I had ever seen in one city.  Or maybe it was just the fact they are all so close together.  I’m guessing the competition is what makes the managers stand outside ushering people to come in, at no cover charge of course.

As we were trying to find our way to a private party we were attending, asking the titty bar manager for directions seemed a safe bet.  It was, he was very polite to help us out.  We didn’t go into the strip club but I can’t say we missed out on much.  Between the girls doing a strip tease at the door of the club and the women flashing their breasts for beads that they were ultimately too drunk to pick up, I got my fair share of viewing.

Orleans Parish Criminal Sheriff’s Office

Friday night actor Nicolas Cage got arrested.  I guess mothers escaping from their humdrum lives at home with kids aren’t the only ones that were partying New Orleans style last weekend.  Apparently Cage got a little too intoxicated in the French Quarter and he mistook another house for the one he and his wife were renting.  When she tried to correct him he got a little publicly oppositional by yelling, cursing, grabbing her arm all while drunkenly slurring.  Cage was then arrested by the NOPD on charges of domestic abuse battery, disturbing the peace and public drunkenness. He was later bailed out by Duane, Dog the Bounty Hunter, with an $11,000 bond, OUCH!

I had a great time at the Mom 2.0 Summit, learned some new things, met some amazing people and truly enjoyed New Orleans.  I wish I had more time to enjoy the culture in NOLA and on my Life List is to celebrate my birthday during Mardi Gras.  I do plan to be one of the people standing on a balcony watching the entertaining chaos down on Bourbon Street.

Have you ever visited New Orleans? What was your favorite thing to do while there?
