DIY Harry Potter Christmas Ornament
The kids and I have always enjoyed making our own special ornaments for gifts but this year we are decorating our own tree! Adding paint or glitter to the inside of an ornament ball is so fun! We’ve gone crazy with colors and designs. This Harry Potter Christmas Ornament is fairly simple to make and he will add a sweet touch of magic and whimsy to your tree.

After removing your hanger cap from the top of your ornament squeeze a tablespoon of flesh colored paint into your ornament. Roll and shake until all inside surfaces are coated in paint.
Flip your ornament upside down into a paper cup and let all the excess paint run out for several hours. Wipe the opening clean before moving on to the next part. If you are making more than one Harry Potter ornament or another character, you can reuse the excess paint by pouring it into another ornament ball.
Draw the outline of Harry’s hair, give it a few haphazard spikes here and there to resemble his slightly unruly locks. Draw on eyes and glasses at this time as well. You can also use paint and a small paintbrush but I love the ease of the paint pen.
Then fill in the hair that you outlined with paint.
Don’t forget to add his famous scar using a gold or yellow paint pen!
To create Harry’s scarf cut an 8” x ½” strip of burgundy craft foam and a 4” x ½” strip of yellow craft foam. Cut the yellow into small strips and glue to the burgundy foam making the familiar yellow and burgundy stripes.
Fold the scarf so that looks as if it’s wrapped around the neck and secure with glue. Apply a bead of hot glue to the center loop of the scarf and quickly press onto the bottom of your ornament.
Add a ribbon hanger and Harry is ready to have some mischief in your Christmas tree!
