First, remove the top part of your ball ornament – the silver hanger cap. The fill the ball with your white craft feathers. No need to add very many, you want to keep them fluffy inside instead of packed tight.

Leave out a couple of extra feathers to add on the outside of your ball ornament. Add a few dabs of hot glue and stick the feather against each side to represent wings.

Even if you aren’t an artist, making Hedwig’s face is very easy! Follow the steps in the photos below using a black permanent paint pen to draw circle eyes, beak, and three claws on each side.

Use a yellow or gold paint pen to add color to the eyes. This brings out the owl look. After you have the base done, add little squiggly lines to the front for feathers and dots around the eyes.

Once you are satisfied with how your Hedwig Christmas Ornament looks, add the hanger top back in place. Now your DIY Harry Potter ornament is ready to be added to the tree!

  1. This is super cute! I’m not a big Harry Potter fan (hope that doesn’t get me banned for saying that) but I’m a huuuuuge owl fan. I need to make a few of these for my tree.

  2. These are so adorable! I love the Harry Potter one, too. Pinning! We’d love to have you link up with us at this week’s #HomeMattersParty – it goes live tonight at midnight EST through next Monday night. Find it at Mom Always Finds Out. 🙂
