The Classic Yo-Yo is Making a Comeback

The holidays are coming quickly and I don’t know about you but the stress of making sure all the kids presents have been purchased and recounting to make sure I added correctly is getting to me. I love that each kid is different in their tastes so finding a unique gift for each is fun but at times it can be a challenge. And with all the options to go towards the techy stuff we forget to look at the other things, you know, like good ole fashion games. For instance, the yo-yo! When was the last time you played with a yo-yo?

Yomega Kendama! Pro (low)

The Yomega® Kendama is a traditional skill game that challenges players’ hand/eye coordination. The Kendama is a fun-filled catch and toss game that requires patience, a steady hand, and some luck. A bright star ball is attached to the handle by a string tether, requiring the player to land the ball of various sized surfaces. An addicting skill toy game that is fun for anyone up to the challenge.

Yomega’s also offers line of yo-yos that are perfect for the younger generation called the “Rookie”. It’s geared specifically for those who have never tried to use a yo-yo before. The classic Brain yo-yo has an auto-return feature that brings the yo-yo back to your hand again and again.  I don’t remember this from when I was a kid. That would have been handy.

Yomega Brain (packaging)

The Yo-Yo that returns automatically! The Yomega Brain Yo-Yo is so smart that when you throw it down it will sleep and then remember to come back. The secret is in our centrifugal clutch system that opens to allow super long spins and then closes to force the return. This is easily one of the most popular Yo-Yo designs the world has ever seen! The Yomega Brain is ideal for the beginner learning how to yo yo.

Yomega puts the power of the Force in the hands of kids and yo-yo fans with a new collection of yo-yos based on the legendary Star Wars saga. For the first time, Star Wars characters will be featured in a line of high performance yo-yos that will have yo-yoers and Star Wars fans scanning the galaxy to collect them all. Yomega Yo-Men come with a Star Wars Yomega Fireball yo-yo cradled in a highly detailed Yo-Men Action Stand sculpted in the character’s likeness.  The yo-yos feature a bold character image and Yomega’s patented transaxle system that allows for high speed and smooth spins.  Star Wars Yo-Men Wave 1 will include Darth Vader, Clone Trooper, Yoda and General Grievous. The yo-yo’s run from approximately $16 to $20 a piece. Not to bad considering a video game is upwards of $20.

You can purchase your very own Yomega at Toys “R” Us, Wal-Mart, Amazon and specialty stores in the US and Canada. And because it wouldn’t be fair of me to talk about the awesomeness of a yo-yo without offering my readers one, I am giving away a Yomega® Kendam!

Full Disclosure: My family received a sample of the above Yo-yos to mention in my post.  All opinions are 100% mine.

  14. Actually, I WAS pretty good as a child: I was also good at bowling, ice AND roller skating and even kite flying – all of which I am quite lousy at now, today… So I have no idea how big of a clutz I would be with a Yo-Yo today! But it would be fun to try!

  15. I am just so-so with a yoyo. I can’t do any tricks. We bought my granddaughter a really nice yoyo after a performance at her school was done. Several of the grandkids have really enjoyed playing with it.

  16. I wasn’t horrible with a yo-yo when I was younger, but now, I’m horrible. My son is only 4 so he hasn’t had a chance to try one yet.
