If you have seen the Twilight in Forks – Saga of The Real Town DVD then you probably recognize the woman photographed below. Although Marcia is Team Jacob wearing her pin that says ‘Team Jacob because Edward sucks‘ she was still very friendly and willing to take a photo with T wearing her Team Edward shirt.
First stop when arriving to Forks, Washington (after photographing the welcome sign of course) was the Forks Chamber of Commerce. Upon arrival they welcome you to Forks without breaking Twilight Saga character. The Visitor Center has a nice ‘welcome home‘ feel with friendly faces greeting you. Forks, Washington is a very small town far from the big city and their Chamber of Commerce is a very small building where everyone knows the town’s latest news. This makes it great as a first stop because they can point you in the right direction no matter what you are looking for.
If you hadn’t previously requested or downloaded the Twilight Saga Travel Guide along with a map of Forks, Washington listing all locations to see during your visit then this is the time to pick one up. They have pre-printed packets to help assist you in your tour of their town along with fun Twilight Saga Trivia questions.
Once you enter the Forks Chamber of Commerce they encourage you to sign their guest book. They don’t ask your name, instead they ask number of people in your family/tour, city, state and zip code you are from and there is a place to leave a comment. Most comments were people stating if they were Team Edward or Team Jacob.
Near the guest book you can also see Dr. Cullen’s uniform (white coat) and his medical license. This was another fun photo opportunity for the true Twilight Saga fan. The Chamber of Commerce offered a variety of small souvenirs, books and t-shirts. They also had all the Twilight Saga character cut-outs for picture taking fun.
After signing the guest book you can’t forget to put a pin on the map hanging on the back wall to show where you traveled from. Our city was pretty full with pins but there are still several areas that have space. Is your city/state full of pins on the map or would you be the first to visit Forks, Washington?
Sitting right outside the Forks, Washington Chamber of Commerce is Bella’s truck. The back glass has a small gunshot hole in it which they told us was probably from Victoria trying to scare Bella. You know how she is with revenge. They even allowed people to climb in the back of the truck for photo opportunities as long as you were careful. We got some cute shots listed in our Flickr collection.
Are you a Twilight Saga fan? Have you been to Forks, Washington or plan to visit? Team Jacob, Team Edward or Team Switzerland?
That is really neat! What an experience. I have enjoyed reading along!
I didn’t even realize it was a real town LOL I assumed it was a made up small town :-p
No, Stephanie Meyers actually did a lot of research before writing the novels. She searched for a town that had the most rainfall during the year so she knew where the vampires could live among mist and fog and not be in direct sunlight during the day. Forks, Washington really is the place. They receive massive rainfall every year. Her description of the town is pretty accurate in the books also. She did a great job and it was so fun visiting the sights quoted, my daughter felt it made the stories feel more real. LOL
That is really cool that she did the research to represent the town so well. I definitely have a new respect for the story now.
I’m not into the whole Twilight saga but I have to say, just knowing the research put into just the location of the series has seriously impressed me. I may have to start reading this series after all! Thanks for sharing your trip! ;D
