Dreaming Of Good Exam Results? These Bedroom Tips Will Help!
Don’t get us wrong, there are a lot of things kids of today have that we didn’t, things that make us ultra jealous; but exam stress is not one of them. Every year, when they go back to school, there seem to be more and more exams. It starts at 8, and it continues every year right up to graduation. It has got to get to them, right? What’s worse, they have to go it alone even though real life is full of collaboration and problem-solving as part of a team.
Anyway, as a parent, you want to help your exam-stressed kid as much as possible, especially when it comes to, well, stress. That’s where their environment comes in, which is why we have come up with a list of ways you can make their bedroom that much more conducive.
Desirable Desk
The best way to keep a routine up and have a place that is synonymous with work and effort is to have a desk. This will give them somewhere to sit down and get into the zone, whether that be writing an essay paper or doing mock exams or whatever. This also means getting an office chair, an adjustable one. The more comfortable they can be at their desk the longer they will stay there, doing all they can to maximize their grades.
Comfortable Escape
If a kid as no choice but to do all of their schoolwork while sat at their desk they will eventually feel confined or, worse yet, they will reach a mental block with their revision, unable to think their way around a solution. That is where having a comfortable bit of furniture comes in. It could be a comfy couch, or a hanging chair, or a chaise lounge, it doesn’t matter. What matters is that they have somewhere they can get curled up in comfort and read through their revision books.
Sleeping Right
We all know how important it is to get a good night’s sleep before a big day. The worst thing is when you wake up groggy and blurry-eyed, and you know that you have no chance of getting into the right headspace. Well, don’t let this happen. Start off by heading to the Sears memorial day sales and getting a mattress that will suit your kid’s preferences; firm, soft, memory foam, springs, whatever. Then teach them how to encourage a good night’s sleep, from avoiding certain foods and drinks and night to leaving the window open a bit at night. It all helps.
Laundry Can Help
Having a tidy room will go a long way in helping them keep a clear head. A messy room equals a messy state of mind. So tell them to use their laundry basket; just chuck everything in there and either you will do their laundry for them, or they can wait until they start experiencing exam block. When you reach this stage, it is always best to do something that will shake up the process a bit, whether it is going for a walk, making a cuppa or doing the laundry. It will all help get them back into the right headspace.
