Tyson Nuggets Springtime Art for Memorial Day

As part of the Collective Bias Tyson Foods campaign I got the chance to play with my food.  Yep, that’s right, I got to play with chicken nuggets and decorate them.  Who says decorating is only for desserts?

My favorite season is spring.  During spring there are several holidays that bring our family together: Easter, my daughter’s birthday and Memorial Day.  The weather is usually warm enough to spend time outside yet still cool enough in Texas to not be miserable.  We are always searching for new ways to be creative and have fun together as a family.

Since my teen had just gotten home from her JROTC camp we were ready to jump into celebrating Memorial Day by being patriotic. To show our support for our military and country we decided to carry that patriotism into our nuggets.

While shopping at Walmart we were pleased to find Glitter Gels for decorating.  I was searching for food coloring to dye our ranch dip to use to create flags and stars on our nuggets but this was genius. Plus, who doesn’t love glitter?

We wanted to set the whole dining table for Memorial Day so we decided the best thing about spring is flowers and the Memorial Day symbol is a flag which made our center piece easy to put together.

I was impressed with the large selection of Tyson Chicken Nuggets our Walmart offered.  The white meat nuggets are ideal for our family for quick and easy lunches at home.  The kids loved shopping with me and planning our food art fun.  The easy shopping experience makes it possible for my teen to run into the store without me next time around and pick up chicken nuggets to prepare for her siblings without worrying about purchasing the wrong item.

You can’t beat the price of only $5.26 for a large bag!

My plan when I got home was to let each of the kids decorate their own nuggets but I’ll admit I had fun doing it myself for them.  My teen cooked the Tyson Chicken Nuggets in the oven for me and before I made each person’s plate I added the flag and star designs to their nuggets.  They were pleasantly surprised and my 11 year old was shocked to see decorated chicken nuggets.  It was a very fun lunch and something we will do again soon.  The Glitter Gel did not have much of a taste.  It reminded me of food coloring.

We added some patriotic colored fruit to round out the meal.  Our family eats a lot of fruit, with strawberries being the first choice for my son and I and blueberries being my teen’s favorite this was the right side dish to complement our Memorial Day nuggets.

If you were able to decorate chicken nuggets for springtime how would you decorate them?  Head over to Tyson’s Facebook Page and test out playing with your food.
