Thunderbird Air Show ~ Make-a-Wish

As you all know we are doing the Make-a-Wish Foundation’s annual 5K this Saturday.  In my previous post about how they blessed us with a wish trip for Gabby before her brain surgery I mentioned we have gone to other events with the Make-a-Wish Foundation.  Local community events will take place and the Make-a-Wish Foundation is sometimes very lucky to get sneak previews of the events for wish kids and their families.

The Thunderbirds host an annual air show near by and the show usually is held over a weekend.  The Friday afternoon before the show was open to the public the Make-a-Wish Foundation received a private viewing.  We were blessed to get a chance to attend.  Not only did we get front row seats at the air show but the kids got to get the autographs of all the pilots.  It was amazing!  They had so much fun.  They even received special air craft pins to wear that were given to them  personally from one of the Thunderbirds!

When I say the Make-a-Wish Foundation

does wonderful things for children, I’m not just talking about the wishes they grant daily.  The community involvement is priceless!  Not to mention how much I love going to these events because I am given the opportunity to meet other amazing children and their mothers.  To hear and share stories about the obstacles our children go through and overcome provides great strength in my heart.  Of course also meeting some whose stories remind me of how lucky we truly are!  Words can’t really even begin to describe the feelings that we take away from these events.  Maybe sharing some of our memories through photos will help…
