Test Results Are In – Gabby Update

Travel, Gabby Update, Sea World, San Antonio, TexasWe had a great time at Sea World last weekend and such a relaxing and enjoyable time swimming at the hotel pool and floating the lazy river.  Gabby got a chance to ride rides, watch shows and be silly, of course!

After coming home we got a call with her test results.  It was good news actually.  The Bone Age Test shows the age result of 8 years old which is actually younger than Gabby’s real age by a year.  The lab work all came back normal which is another plus.  I was not looking forward to putting her on hormone medication.

The Pediatrician called me herself which was extremely nice, instead of just having her nurse call me.  She told me that with Gabby’s bone age being only 8 that means she’ll actually grow a little longer than normal which is exactly what we need.  Apparently the precocious puberty is being caused by something else.  She told me what it most likely is but I can’t remember now.  Either way it wasn’t a big deal and nothing to worry about.

I spoke with the NeuroSurgeon’s office and they plan to see her on July 11th to do a complete follow-up.  They were also pleased to hear the results of the tests and as of right now they aren’t worried about rushing any future plans of shunt surgery.  Gabby does still have the knot on her head, unfortunately, but since it’s not causing daily issues we are going to wait a while longer and monitor.  I feel like I can take a deep breath now.  I’m also going to force myself to stop worrying about what the future holds and stressing over the fact she’ll most likely have another brain surgery.  We are going to put it all out of our minds until July 11th at least and enjoy summer.
