Back to School season is upon us. Although I’m not quite ready for summer to end this next week, I have accepted the reality that we need to be prepared. Beyond getting new school clothes and supplies for my kids, I’m getting my son ready to meet his new teacher by putting together this Teacher Gift Basket.
My son is slow to warm up to people but once he does he gets pretty attached. He is going into fourth grade this year, which is the last year of elementary school for him. He is struggling with the fact he will be leaving his school behind for intermediate school which includes fifth and sixth grade. He knows his friends are moving up with him but he is sad to leave behind his teachers and principal. He still gives his first grade teacher a Christmas gift each year!
Since he is nervous to start a new year with a new teacher, we decided to put together this nice welcome gift basket. He was able to help me pick out items to put in the basket and help ‘break the ice‘ for him.
Teacher Gift Basket
- Fresh Fruit
- Journal
- Index Cards
- Coloring Book
- Colorful Pilot G2 Pens
- Mug or Water Bottle
- Magnetic Notepad
- Binder Clips
- Handwritten Card
I can only imagine that teaching can be exhausting at times. One of my favorite ways to reduce stress is by coloring with gel pens. We added a small pocket size coloring book in the teacher basket for relaxation as well as a journal for writing. Students are not the only ones that deserve fun new school supplies, so we added some just for the teacher too.
While shopping at Walmart for my son’s school supplies we gathered items for his teacher’s gift.
I knew we had to purchase the Pilot G2 Fashion Collection pens. Besides the fun colors, they are so pretty! No sense in having boring pens and these are perfect for the teacher to use and not have to share. Throughout the school year teachers often loan out their extra pencils or other supplies to their students when they run low. With these beautifully designed pens there is no confusing them with student supplies.
Pilot G2 Pens are America’s #1 selling gel ink brand, available in four point sizes and 15 vibrant colors.

Pilot G2 Pens have smooth writing gel ink and a comfortable grip. I always buy extra purple pens. Although green is my favorite color, I just love writing in purple. In school we were only able to write in blue or black ink and use red pens for grading. I feel like as soon as I graduated my inner child broke free and decided to only write in bright colors. At least my son’s teacher will not have to worry about sharing her colorful Pilot G2 Pens since the kids aren’t allowed to use them!
To top off the teacher’s gift basket I wanted to include a personal note. A handwritten card lets her know how much we appreciate her taking the time to teach our child. Being a teacher is such an important career in shaping the lives of future generations.
