As a busy mom that works out of a home office, I have got caught up in eating quick meals that aren’t always healthy and spending so many hours in the office that I miss my workout. Below are my tips for ways to get healthy in 2019 that you can stick to.
Drink More Water – Cut Out Soda
Get a refillable bottle to measure your water intake each day. If you are used to drinking sodas or flavored drinks, buy some healthy water flavor or fresh fruit to squeeze in. It will help with the transition to drinking water and cutting out the bad-habit drinks. By increasing your water intake it can help with digestion and energy levels.
Join a Gym
My family has been members of Planet Fitness for two years now. We love it. By joining a gym you are held accountable to workout. Over the years I have purchased several at-home workout programs and always put it off starting until a later date. I get distracted while at home and forget to hold myself accountable to do the program.
By being a member of Planet Fitness you are investing in your health each month and have more of a reason to go. Each visit you can use your mobile phone to check-in and earn points towards free products from Planet Fitness. They reward their members for taking the time to get healthy. By going to the gym I force myself to take a break from work and move. Instead of sitting at my desk all day, I can get on a bike or treadmill and burn some calories.
Meet with a Trainer for Free
At Planet Fitness you can meet with one of their trainers or front desk employees to walk you through how each of their machines works. They offer trainers to help you set up a custom workout plan with an accountability schedule based on your goals. This takes the guesswork out of getting healthy in 2019.
There are several areas inside our Planet Fitness for different kinds of workout plans. Machines, free weights, CrossFit resistance bands station, 30-minute workout, and the cardio area provides something for all exercise levels.

Get Active as a Family
Beyond going to the gym, get outdoors and be active as a family. Our family loves to go biking and hiking. During 2018 we took up kayaking as a family and absolutely love it. It is a fun way to explore our local state parks and lakes while also getting in some exercise. Take evening bike rides after dinner or take the dog for a walk. Get healthier as a family while bonding over fun adventures.
