How to Stay Warm on the Sidelines

This story is brought to you by and DICK’S Sporting Goods. All opinions are 100% my own.

My oldest daughter played soccer for five years and now my son just completed his third season.  My other son plays baseball year round.  While sitting on the sidelines – cheering on our kids – we deal with various weather conditions. The most difficult for me is the cold.

Growing up in Texas I can usually handle the heat.  Slap on some sunscreen, toss on a ball cap and sit in the shade.  However, the cold months with the wind that feels like it is cutting through you is tough on this southerner. Thanks to shopping at I was able to secure items to keep me warm.

I love the disposable hand warmers.  These are perfect for the winter and inexpensive.  They are good to keep a package in the car for emergencies, too.  The easy to use hand warmers heat up instantly.  You open the package and shake them.  They will keep your hands warm or you can carry them in your pocket.

My new favorite addition this season is my canopy chair from DICK’S Sporting Goods.  The folding chair is lightweight to carry to the ball fields and clips together for ease of storage.  The canopy helps block the sun in the summer and the wind in the winter.  The sides of the canopy provide a nice little shield without blocking your view of the game.

The chair has cup holders, however when I’m real cold I prefer to keep my warm thermos in my lap for the extra heat.

The chair is very comfortable!

We always keep extra blankets in the back of the car for sporting events.  Sometimes the kids lay them out on the grass to sit on and other times we are bundled up.  I love my body wrap blanket to really keep out the cold wind.

Don’t forget to add layers of clothing, thick socks and a beanie on your head.  If your toes and ears are warm… you’ll feel warm.
