All too often I find that I’m running around like a chicken with my head cut off. Time flies by so quickly and once the day has ended I still feel like I didn’t have enough time to myself. As a busy mom who works from home, it’s important for me to use some life hacks to get more me time. Just like many of my mom friends, I am guilty of not making me time a priority. Today I wanted to share a few life hacks to get more me time as a busy mom so that you can be inspired to take time out every so often. Even now, we are spending most (if not all) of our time at home. We should take a few moments to have time to ourselves. Here are a few self-care for moms tips that might help you feel refreshed and ready to take on the day.

Self-Care For Moms: Find Time For Yourself

Figure out Your List Style: Each of us has a different method of making our daily to-do lists. Some moms use Trello, some use old fashioned pen and paper and others use sticky notes. Learn what list style works well to keep you motivated and use it every day. This will help minimize your work at home hours to clear the way for more me time later on. I love a good paper planner (The Happy Planner is an affordable option), but I do use digital planning like Google Calendar and Artful Agenda.

Get rid of Distractions: You’ll know what distracts you during the day. Each of us has different things that will suck us in and allow us to waste time. Social media is a culprit for many moms, they get online and next thing they know they’ve wasted hours engaging with others. Be diligent in your mission to remove any distractors that end up being time suckers.

Prepare the Night Before: This life hack to get more me time is one of my favorite options. Get into the routine of making lunches, setting out clothes, and preparing anything for the morning on the night before. When you take the time to prepare your next day necessities it adds quite a bit of time to your day. Taking proactive measures like this life hack will naturally free up that time for you to sneak away for alone time.

Dedicate Time Slots: As a work from home mom, it’s easy to get distracted and to try to do too many things at once. Dedicate specific time slots during your day for certain tasks on your to-do list. Set the time when you’ll check email, social media, and other communication devices. Set a time for when you will work on client work and pitch for new work. This helps reduce wasted time during your work at home day. I like to wake up very early in the morning so that I have a focused few hours before anyone else is awake.

Make a Commitment: If you really want to use life hacks to get more me time, then you have to remain committed to your mission. Reduce work hours by minimizing distractions and other unnecessary tasks that suck your time each day. Make a commitment to yourself that me time will become a priority on your to-do list every day.

Make your own products: Crafting is relaxing for me, and even better, you can take some time to make your own body scrubs. Combine a few ingredients and up your self-care game.
