You Searched What To Find My Blog?

As a blogger one would think this is simply a hobby, and when it comes down to things I will admit blogging is a passion of mine, however, some blog posts supplement the income for my household. When one thinks of business analytics you would probably think of a large corporation looking to analyze traffic to their website to ensure they are reaching consumers within their niche. Bloggers utilize website statistics for the same reason, sort of.  As a blogger who uses my blog platform as a form of income, it’s important to ensure the readers are getting what they are coming to see while still writing about what is important to me as a mother, friend and blog community member.

Bloggers perform the task of website testing which is a great way to see what visitors think of your articles listed on your blog. Visitor testing isn’t always something that all of your blog readers want to take part in via a survey form, which is why it’s important to have multiple ways to ensure you are tracking where visitors are exiting your blog, where they come back to read more and maybe even when they are sharing blog posts on social media accounts.

The moral of this story is … whether you are blogging for fun, blogging for income or running a high end corporate website; it is vitally important to analyze your traffic to ensure visitors are real people interested in your niche topic or product.

While I was searching through my analytics I took time to go through the keywords people are searching on Google which land them on my blog.  Most of the keywords are exactly what I would want, landing people on specific posts that will benefit them in their search.  Then I found a couple that were just funny and I have no idea why Google sent them to my site.

  • I Will Buy Honey
  • All Was Well Tattoo
  • Baby Girl On Slide
  • Bandage On Flickr

I’m not even sure what people were looking for when they searched those terms.  I also have no idea how my blog could have been useful.  There was a lot of ‘pink hair’ searches that came to my blog.  I’m guessing from me blogging years ago about T getting pink highlights.  Funny, yet useful information.

  1. I think the people who searched “All Was Well Tattoo” were looking for a Harry Potter tattoo. I don’t blame them.. That is a good line.
