Screams Haunted Theme Park

Screams Halloween Theme Park is located in Waxahachie, Texas which is about 30 minutes south of the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex.  Screams is open every Friday and Saturday during the month of October from 7:30 PM until 1:30 AM as well as on Halloween night from 7:30 PM to 11:00 PM.  The haunted theme park features 5 main attractions that you can go through as many times as you’d like as well as food, face painting, games, a fortune teller and an area setup with a movie screen showing classic horror films.  There are professional actors dressed in gory costumes walking around the park ready to scare their next victim.

The cost for entrance into Screams Halloween Theme Park is $24.99 for ages 6+.  They also sell arm bands inside for Fast Pass through the haunted houses for $15.

I’ve taken T for the past two years to Screams.  We love it.  Last year several of our family members went with us and this year T took two of her friends.  Last year we arrived around 9:45 PM to the haunted theme park and the lines were crazy long so we splurged and bought the Fast Passes because they were worth it after standing in line for two hours for one haunted house.  However this year we arrived right at 7:30 PM and were able to do all the haunted attractions with ease and without spending any extra money on the Fast Pass.  We spent two hours at the park and had plenty of time to go through all five haunted houses, eat and do some of the extra attractions the park has to offer.

Neither of T’s friends had been to a haunted house before.  So when we went to Screams on Friday night it was an experience for them.  They loved it.  I couldn’t help but laugh at the teenage squeals but we all sure enjoyed ourselves.  Another plus about Screams is the fact they truly take pride in what they do.  The people walking around in costume go out of their way to interact with the crowd.  The girls started getting scared and running around the park from the moment we entered.  During one of the haunted houses T squealed her friend’s name and grabbed her arm.  In doing so one of the characters inside the haunted house heard T say the other girl’s name and then started calling out her name in a very scary voice.  Of course this freaked them out but I thought it was hilarious.  I loved how they personalized the experience!  That made a lasting memory for T and her friends that they will never forget and even though they got scared, they already want to return!

I highly recommend visiting Screams Haunted Theme Park.  We will go again next year, I’m sure.  I think the cost of $24.99 per person is a small amount to pay for five full haunted houses plus haunted theme park to walk around.  By the way did I mention one of the haunted houses is in 3D with glasses and all? Love it!

My recommendations:

  • Go as early to 7:30 PM as possible
  • If you hate Haunted Houses, there is other stuff to do but not much
  • I saw little kids at Screams both years but I personally wouldn’t take my little ones because it would scare them
