Our School Needs – Bing Contest

Singer Josh Groban visits a local middle school in Queens, NY to drop off brand new musical instruments & participate in chorus class as part of the “Our School Needs” campaign kick-off

Bing is awarding a quarter-million dollars in prize money divided among four schools in need.  The Our School Needs contest has 15 finalists videos from various schools across America that need your votes.  The entry with the most votes wins $100,000 and 3 others will each win $50,000!

I personally love the Jessie Beck Elementary School video entry.  I love seeing all the team work between the students in creating the video and how they have laid out what their needs are and how the money would benefit their school and futures.

Do you know teachers who have sacrificed things in their classroom due to budget cuts?  I know my daughter’s teacher has personally bought things for their classroom and always provides the students with special Holiday parties and end of the year prizes to overcome the lack in school funding.  I am always amazed at what lengths teachers will go to in order to make sure their students are taken care of even on a lower salary.

Bing is giving away up to $900,000 to schools in need through DonorsChoose.org, a non-profit website where public school teachers can post classroom projects that need funding.  Be one of the first 30,000 to vote for your favorite finalists each day and receive a $3 donation code to redeem for the classroom project of your choice!

Voting ends Sunday, November 7th.  Winners will be announced Tuesday, November 9th.
