Three Fun Family Road Trips from Texas – Travel Thursday
Our family loves traveling. We travel so often and enjoy it so much that we created a separate site to document our trips, called Oh, The Places We Travel! If you aren’t already, go follow us on Instagram to see our daily travel snapshots. We also love seeing your travel inspiration so use our hashtag #PlacesWeTravel so we can follow along.
Fun Family Road Trips from Texas
Below are some of our favorite adventures from 2017. These three family road trips from Texas were filled with exploring and fun.
Feeding the Giraffes at Memphis Zoo
I will admit, I am still giddy over the excitement I experience when feeding the giraffes at the Memphis Zoo. We took a weekend trip to Memphis and explored the city. We had so much fun and have shared many details over on the travel site and on IG. However, one of my top highlights from that trip was seeing these magnificent creatures eat lettuce out of my hand.
I think I could have hung out with these giraffes all day! Does your local zoo offer feeding of the animals?
Check out this short Facebook video we shared of our experience.
Cadillac Ranch in Amarillo, Texas
Have you ever seen those cool exhibits along the side of the road? I have seen movies where the family stops to see the largest ball of twine but had never had a trip like that of our own, until now. You can legally become a graffiti artist at Cadillac Ranch. This free art exhibit features several Cadillacs buried half way into the ground and each visitor can leave their mark in spray paint.
You can read our tips for what to bring to have the most fun when visiting Cadillac Ranch and see more photos over on the travel blog. Plus, we did a little drone flying during our trip so check out our YouTube video below.

Visit the Oldest Town in Texas
In the spring I was given the opportunity to explore the oldest town in Texas, Nacogdoches. We stayed at this beautiful inn that was recently renovated. Words cannot even begin to explain how beautiful this place was. Although it was remodeled and modernized, it still had the historic flair.
I take you on a full photo tour of our two bedroom suite with sun room over on the travel blog. The town is a perfect place to take your family for a history trip, to have a romantic getaway, or even a girls relaxing weekend. I share more about the town but the Mockingbird Suites is my favorite post.

We have many more adventures to share soon.
Where are you traveling during 2018?
Local to Texas, don’t miss our review of Medieval Times Dinner and Tournament show in Dallas.
I’m a Texas girl so I know of these spots. What fun you have had!! We haven’t had the chance to add to the Cadillac Ranch but it is on our list! We had a chance to add our artistic touches to an outdoor graffiti art spot in Austin, Texas called “Hope Outdoor Gallery” which is how I know getting a chance to paint at the Cadillac Ranch would be AWESOME!!!
