Random Acts of Kindness – Project We

Random Acts of Kindness, Team Work, Strong CommunityThis week’s Project We theme is kindness.  T wrote about welcoming the soldiers home from over seas at the airport with her Junior Cadet Corps class as her kindness act for the week, which is also something she truly enjoys doing.  I thought I’d feature some random acts of kindness on my blog so of course I turned to Twitter and asked my followers for suggestions.

Tell me one simple, random act of kindness you have done lately.

I got some great feedback and it launched a fun conversation on Twitter that I wish I could post fully but unfortunately that would make for a very long blog post.  So instead I’m just going to feature a few tweets that I received.

I love this tweet from Sandra and funny story… I had to ask her what a toonie was which she happily explained to be $2.

Michelle was thinking of others while out running her own personal errands.  Something as simple as picking up an item from the store means a lot to someone who has a hard time finding that specific item normally.  It’s the thought that counts and going out of her way to provide them with something they needed was awesome.

This tweet is one of my favorites.  Paying for a total stranger’s order at Starbucks is amazing!  I actually can’t wait to try this myself.  The next time I am in the drive-thru line I am going to ask the total of the person behind me and as long as it’s reasonable and something I can afford I plan to pay.  Just out of kindness and to make their day.  I know it’ll make me feel great!

Sharing coupons at the store that you don’t need is a great act of kindness.  It’s something that is simple to do yet can make a big difference to someone who is paying that doesn’t have the coupon.  You never know if the person shopping next to you might truly needs to save those few extra dollars.  Every little bit helps and it’ll put a smile on that person’s face.  It’s also a great way to just show someone in your community that you care and hopefully they’ll pay it forward with their own act of kindness.

There are so many ways we can do simple things to show kindness to others.  Friends, family or even strangers.  A smile, a nice comment, unexpected phone call to say you are thinking of them or doing something random for a perfect stranger to help make their day better.  It makes both the giver and receiver feel great!
