Have you set your goals and resolutions for the new year? Each year I try to focus on a better exercise routine and healthier life choices. Working out daily can be a struggle and risks becoming boring. That’s why I like to make this fun and yummy post-workout Banana Split Protein Smoothie as a way to treat myself!
Nothing beats coming home from the gym or finishing a home workout session and enjoying this protein smoothie that tastes like you are indulging in a banana split. It makes the perfect reward for your best efforts.
Banana Split Protein Smoothie Ingredients
- Banana
- MaraNatha Almond Butter – 2 tbsp
- Six Star Whey Protein Powder: Strawberry – 1 scoop
- Greek Yogurt – 2 tbsp
- Cacao Powder – 2 tsp
- Almond Milk or 2% milk – 1 cup
- Chia Seeds – optional
Six Star Whey Protein is clinically shown to build 70% more muscle and strength than whey protein alone. It is made for active men and women, strength trainers, athletes, and fitness enthusiasts.
Six Star Whey Protein is powered by specialized 100% whey protein for fast absorption and easy mixing – making it great to add to smoothies.
MaraNatha Almond Butter adds the yummy, nutty flavor to your banana split smoothie and gives it a bit of texture. Almond butter contains 18 grams of healthy fats made up of primarily unsaturated fatty acids. These fats improve your blood cholesterol levels to combat cardiovascular disease while also providing energy. Plus, it gives you a serving of much-needed fiber.
*Remember to put your almond butter in the refrigerator after opening, it is not like store-bought peanut butter that is filled with preservatives to allow storing in a pantry.
To bring out the strawberry flavor you can add a few fresh berries to your smoothie mix. I do recommend using at least one frozen fruit to keep the smoothie cold. Otherwise, add ice.
First, add your frozen or fresh fruit to your blender along with your ice. This first step is where you can add your Six Star Whey Protein Powder and cup of milk. Blend until smooth.
Next, add your MaraNatha almond butter, Greek yogurt, cacao powder and if needed, more ice.
I top all of my smoothies will chia seeds. Chia seeds are an excellent source of omega-3, rich in antioxidants, and help with digestion.
This post-workout treat provides you with renewed energy to make it through the day and the flavors will make you smile with happiness.
