Now that my oldest daughter has joined the military, patriotic holidays mean a little more to us. We have always been a pretty patriotic family but knowing my daughter helps serve for our freedom gives me a sense of pride. It is no secret that with each holiday we have family and friends over for cookouts. We are always looking for an excuse to host get togethers.

For our upcoming Memorial Day cookout we put together these Memorial Day Party Favors that are geared towards thanking our soldiers. My daughter made several friends while serving in JROTC in high school and now in the Army. To show our appreciation we gathered the below supplies.

Memorial Day Party Favors

• Paper Sacks
• Cardstock – blue and red glitter
• Patriotic goodies – homemade or store-bought
• Snacks
• Cans of Coca-Cola™

To decorate our party bags, I used my Silhouette machine to cut out stars in two different sizes. I used blue cardstock and red glitter scrapbook paper. If you do not have a die-cutting machine feel free to draw stars or use a star-shape hole punch.

I layered the stars to make the bags pop. I used a glue stick to adhere the stars to the bags. You can even write ‘thank you’ messages directly on the bags for the military soldiers in your life.

The USO strengthens America’s military service members by keeping them connected to family throughout their service to the nation. At Sam’s Club this summer, look for the USO branded packaging on select Coca-Cola products to help provide care packages to soldiers overseas. Whether you are shopping for your upcoming Memorial Day party, 4th of July celebration or your weekly groceries, you can find the USO packaging of Coca-Cola at Sam’s Club during the most patriotic six weeks this summer.

Besides purchasing Coca-Cola to serve at the party, I made the cans the store of the show for our party favor bags. Knowing that not only are we supporting our military overseas with care packages, we are also able to support our local soldiers with our bags.

Once you have decorated the outside of your bags it is time to fill them!

I found these cute wands to that just scream celebration. They will be fun to wave at the local parade.
