Our go-to family time is spent making dinner and watching movies. We love finding family-friendly entertainment that we can all enjoy together after a long day of school and work. Pizza night is a hit in our home, especially when we make homemade biscuit pizza. Everyone, no matter their age, can make their own – it’s that simple! This week we bonded over making pizza and watching Miracles From Heaven on Blu-ray. We spent an hour after the movie going through the special features on the disc, deleted scenes, and discussing the film!

Homemade Biscuit Pizza Ingredients
- Biscuit Dough – premade or homemade
- Pizza Sauce
- Shredded Cheese – we used mozzarella
- Pizza Toppings – your choice, we used:
- Pepperoni
- Black Olives
- Fajita Chicken
- Bacon

I made fresh bacon for a pizza topping. I’m not real fond of the premade bacon bits. Cooking the bacon took the longest so while it was frying up, I gathered the other ingredients.

We had a bag of chicken fajita meat in our freezer so I quickly heated it up for a topping. I love chicken and black olive pizza!

Place each of your toppings in separate bowls so each person can use what they like on their individual pizzas.

We used the premade flaky crust biscuits, but any biscuit dough will do. Line your baking sheet with the biscuit dough and gently press down the center. This lifts the sides slightly so you have a ‘crust‘. It also forms a shallow bowl to add your toppings.

I let my daughter get creative with her pizzas. With very little guidance, she was able to add as little or as much as she wanted. This is such a special moment for me as a mother. I remember the day the doctors told us she would never be able to do these types of things. With her Cerebral Palsy I was told she would never walk and hardly speak. Now she’s making her own pizza!

Since the individual size pizzas are small, each person made more than one.

On one of Gabby’s pizzas she made a bowl out of pepperoni. She put her cheese on top, whereas my husband put his cheese on first and toppings on top. It is interesting to see how everyone is different. In our family we value differences and view them as blessings. From personal food tastes to different physical abilities, we are each learning about our differences daily.

Do you like your cheese to cover your pizza toppings?

Once the biscuits are covered, it is time to bake. Since all of your toppings are cooked, you just need to bake your biscuit dough. Follow baking instructions on the premade dough package or your homemade dough recipe. Once your biscuits are golden your pizzas are ready.

What is your favorite pizza topping?

While shopping at Walmart for our homemade biscuit pizza ingredients, we picked up the newly released Blu-ray of Miracles From Heaven. We have been counting down the days until this movie released on DVD. We knew we were going to add it to our home movie collection. This inspirational film is based on a true story that took place in the town we currently live in.

This movie really hit home with our family. Gabby has struggled with her special needs and has spent more weeks in the hospital than I can count. One trip kept us there for four months straight. Watching this film and seeing the little girl fight to live a happy, healthy life was a reminder to be thankful for all of our blessings. Gabby was able to talk about her experience after watching what the Beam family went through.

We have been able to witness our own miracles with Gabby surviving multiple brain surgeries and living with us today. She has overcome so much and I am thankful we have these special moments to bond over homemade biscuit pizza.

Hi Dwan. How lovely of you to visit Thriving on Thursdays linky party last week here in Australia. We love homemade pizzas too and tend to use all things like bread slices and biscuit bases (or as we call them “English muffins”) as well as homemade dough. Thank you so much for sharing your idea last week and for visiting. I’m featuring your post at tomorrow’s party. Hope to see you again.
