Happy Birthday Mom
Today was my mom’s birthday. We had a great dinner as a family at Edohana’s Hibachi and Sushi Japanese food. Our whole family loves Japanese food. My favorite part tonight was when the chef was breaking the eggs for the fried rice and he tossed one in the air without notice right towards my dad, he caught it and we all heard a crack. It was hilarious although fortunately it was hollow. I will admit, I’ve seen them pretend to spray soy sauce on people, throw eggs in their hat and do other numerous tricks but this one caught me by surprise and I was gullible enough to think the egg had cracked in my father’s hands.
I gave my mom a fun coupon with an I.O.U. for one free ticket to Sea World in San Antonio for next weekend. I am going for a blog event on the 19th and taking the kids. I invited my parents to come along, thought it would be a great family weekend getaway. I decided as one gift to my mom for her birthday would be a free pass and for my dad’s Father’s Day gift I’ll give him a ticket into the park as well. Makes their road trip quite a bit less expensive and cuts my stress of shopping down.
The kids and I also gave my mom the Kodak Pulse digital photo frame. After dinner we came back to my house and played with her new gadget and both love it. Of course now I want one for myself! I take tons of photos of my kids and always use my camera at family functions. My mom is always begging me to burn photos to a CD or somehow email her copies. Do you know how long it takes to email hundreds of photos? Too long… The great thing about the Kodak Pulse is the fact it connects to wifi and you can digitally send photos. We were also able to setup a personalized free email account on Kodak Pulse’s website so my mom can have people email photos directly to her digital frame. Isn’t that amazing? We tested it out tonight and I had such fun sending her photos. Now every time I take a new photo of the kids, I can surprise her with it by sending straight to her frame at home. This makes photo scanning fun! I wish my grandmother and Aunt had wifi in their homes because this would make a perfect gift for them also.
The restaurant sang Happy Birthday to my mom while making her wear the big black hat. Of course along with the embarrassment came free fried ice cream which looked amazing. All in all the evening was great!
View the below Whrrl story to see a few photos from our evening. Lighting was horrible and I only used my iPhone, sorry the quality isn’t the best.

I love it in restaurants when they sing “Happy Birthday”. No matter what’s going on in my life, at least for that moment things are festive!
