Gluten-Free Lunch at McAlister’s
There are not many places that I can eat at several times in one week and still enjoy it. Finding gluten-free options at restaurants is becoming easier nowadays. Unfortunately, cross-contamination is still a big issue at many places. McAlister’s is a deli that I frequent as often as possible. The whole family enjoys eating there. The staff at our local McAlister’s is accommodating and pleasant to spend lunch with.
McAlister’s makes their sandwiches fresh on order and I have never had a problem when eating there. Their gluten-free bread tastes exactly the same as how I remember regular bread tasting. It’s not dry, tough and stale tasting like some gluten-free bread options I’ve tried. It actually has taste!
They offer so many sandwich options and I’ve yet to find one I dislike. Currently my favorite is their Southwest Turkey Melt. Usually I can order any of the sandwiches on the menu and just request gluten-free bread. The cashiers are very knowledgable in which ingredients are gluten-free or not. Anytime they have a doubt there is a large binder at the front of the deli that lists each item, even condiments, and if they should be avoided by various allergies.
McAlister’s is known for their famous sweet tea. Personally I don’t drink caffeine but Andrew and T love it. After we eat they always get a refill to go.
Andrew is lucky to not have any issues with gluten. I think every time we visit McAlister’s he tries something different and usually it is on different bread. Our last trip he had ciabatta bread. The one thing he is consistent about besides the tea is the macaroni and cheese.
Have you visited your local McAlister’s Deli? Which sandwich is your favorite?
Full Disclosure: I often check-in on social networks when at McAlister’s. I have even shared photos of our food online before. I was surprised with a ‘thank you’ for your support letter and gift card in the mail this month from McAlister’s encouraging me to try a new spring sandwich. I was not asked to write about it but since I do love their food and was thankful for the gift I decided to share with my lovely readers. All opinions are 100% mine.
