When asked what the best gift I ever gave was… my first thoughts were of a couple of creatives items that I gifted to someone several years back.

I once had a custom CD created by the original artists of a song, changing the lyrics to represent the person I was gifting the CD to.  I can’t even remember how I stumbled across this gift idea online but it had to be the most fun gift I’ve ever given.  When ordering the customized song I was asked to fill out a questionnaire to help the artist decide on the new lyrics.  The artist gave the option of which song to customize out of their top several hits.  Listening to the chorus of several of my favorite songs at the time made it a tough choice but the finished product was amazing.  I believe the person I had the CD made for enjoyed receiving it just as much as I enjoyed giving it.  A memory cherished…

I still to this day remember the year that M&M’s launched the My M&M’s website where you could order customizable M&Ms.  I had a blast with this.  I’m sure by now you have seen the cute little candies with personalized messages or even the names of the Bride and Groom at a recent wedding.  They have become a very popular gift.  I remember ordering a few bags with cute sayings, nicknames and special dates on them.

My favorite way to give a gift is by providing a scavenger hunt.  I’ve done this several times with my daughter and every time we both love it.  Coming up with clues for her to hunt for throughout the house that eventually leads to the hidden present is the best.  This is not only fun but it builds up the excitement for the gift in the end.  However the older she gets the more difficult it is for me to come up with tricky clues.  I haven’t even started yet for this year.
