Spring is one of my favorite seasons. The weather is warm enough to play outdoors but not too hot in Texas to be miserable, yet. I love butterflies flying around in the spring and the beautiful blooms. Pastel shades are among my favorite. Lilac is such a happy color. With the first day of spring only a month away, I created this Frugal DIY Spring Centerpiece. Find my craft inspiration below.
Have you seen the new Diet Coke “It’s Mine” bottles? I have always been fascinated by the vintage glass bottles from Coca-Cola. However, these new labels are awesome. Coca-Cola has created a new, uniquely packaged bottle to showcase Diet Coke. Same great taste with a colorful design. No two glass bottles are the same!
The new Diet Coke “It’s Mine” bottles are only available for a limited time (while supplies last).
When I first saw the Diet Coke “It’s Mine” bottles at our local Albertsons, I was surprised by the selection. So many colors and patterns! My parents even spent time going through each shelf on the display to pick their favorite. Which the display itself was pretty cool, resembling a Diet Coke bottle shape.

The Diet Coke “It’s Mine” bottles that I selected had pink, purple and teal colors on them. I picked up an inexpensive boutique of spring flowers to match the labels on the bottles so I could enjoy them even after the Diet Coke was gone.
The spring colors and designs inspired me to create this Frugal DIY Spring Centerpiece for my kitchen table.
Frugal DIY Spring Centerpiece
Supplies
- Glass candle stick holder
- Plastic bowl – I used a shallow cat food bowl
- Fake Spanish Moss
- Plastic Easter Eggs or Foam Easter Eggs
- Spray Paint – color of choice
- Hot Glue Gun/Glue Sticks
First, spray paint your candle stick holder and bowl. I recommend painting them separately before gluing together. This way the paint is less likely to run and it is easier to paint under the bowl.
I used a plastic cat food bowl for my top piece. This bowl was shallow enough to hold a bird’s nest and fit perfectly on top of the candle holder. As you can see the paint did not completely cover the design in the center of the bowl. That’s okay. Since I’m adding a bird’s nest to the inside, I knew it would hide it so I only used one coat of paint.
Once your paint is dry, add hot glue to the top of your candle stick holder. Quickly place the bowl on top of your hot glue and press down.
Now that your stand is complete it is time to create the bird’s nest. I used a bag of spanish moss that I was able to pick up for a dollar in the floral section. Before adding more hot glue to the bowl, form your moss to create a nest shape and sit to the side.
Add hot glue to the center of the bowl to hold down the nest. Press the spanish moss in place to form around the inside of the bowl and leave the center empty for your eggs.
I had some spray glitter that I gave a light coat to the nest. The spray is called Diamond Dust. Since I was making a centerpiece for my table I though it would provide a little extra shine. This step is optional and the nest looks great without it.
I used foam eggs that I cut from an Easter bouquet that I found. You can use left over plastic eggs from last year’s hunt if you prefer. I simply sat the eggs in place but you can glue them down if you want.
The total cost of my Frugal DIY Spring Centerpiece was around $5. However, you may have some of these items at home that you can use and save even more.
