Feeling Stressed? 5 Scriptures to Give You Peace

Stress gets to the best of us. That’s why it is important to guard your heart and your mind with the right scriptures for the trouble ahead. Check out these five scriptures that will help you, even when you are feeling stressed.

Trust in the Lord

I feel as though the verse I’m about to share with you can be used in a multitude of situations. When you are feeling stressed this is a scripture that you should get out and read several times. If you can, it might even be wise to memorize it. By putting total faith in God, we are releasing our stress to him and all of the negative feelings that come with it.

Trust in the LORD with all your heart, And do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He will make your paths straight.
{Proverbs 3:5-6}

Don’t Worry About Tomorrow

A lot of the stress we feel on a daily basis comes from the fact that we don’t know what the next few moments hold, let alone what tomorrow holds. We have to remember this verse almost every moment we are feeling stressed or anxious.

Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.  {Matt. 6:34}

Matt 634

Trust in the Lord

This next verse is one of my favorites. God doesn’t stress us out, man does! Trusting in the Lord is one way we can stay safe from stress and the worries of the Lord. It is your job to continue throughout your normal day, while trusting God. He will help direct your path, as long as you are trusting in Him.

Fear of man will prove to be a snare, but whoever trusts in the LORD is kept safe. {Proverbs 29:25}

Be Joyous Always

This seems impossible to do. However, we cannot be joyous on our own and it is important to pray for peace as we go about our day. It is not God’s will for us to be stressed to the max, it’s important that we take time to be joyful, pray and give thanks in all circumstances. The next time you are feeling stressed, 1 Thessalonians 5:16 is a great verse to check out.

Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus. {1 Thessalonians 5:16-18}

Some Things Are Temporary

If there is one thing I know, some things are temporary. Okay, most things are temporary and the only thing that matters is our faith in Jesus Christ. 2 Corinthians 4:16-18 shows us that while we might be going through a temporary struggle, we should not lose heart.

Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal. {2 Corinthians 4:16-18}

I hope you find these verses comforting the next time you are feeling stressed. Take a deep breath and rely on The One who can get you through it all.
