My family was invited to the VIP event for press at the Fantasy in Sand in Arlington, Texas before it opened to the public.
The Wizard of Oz is now in Arlington, Texas in the form of sand. This unique exhibit is located in Parking Lot F at the Global Life Park. It is truly the land of Oz come to life. You and your family can follow along the story of the Wizard of Oz – many of the scenes from the movie are laid out in front of you.
The sand art is displayed under a large tent that is temperature regulated. Which makes it the perfect indoor feature for your family during the hot Texas heat this summer.
Along the path the kids can read the story that matches each display.
The characters are beyond life-like. The details are amazing and I cannot believe this whole exhibit was built in only two weeks!
Look at the markings on the lion’s face! You can tell so much hard work went into building each piece.
Toto even looks realistic with all his fur!
My favorite was the Tin Man. The way the sand was completely smoothed out to make the tin look real was astounding.
As we walked the path to follow all the characters along the yellow brick road we arrived at Oz. This is where the sand art really grew.
Now that’s a sand castle!
Remember the large mechanical Oz head towards the end of the movie? I honestly think this one made of sand looks better!
I highly recommend this exhibit for all ages. I was just as amazed as the kids were. I was able to appreciate all the small details while the kids enjoyed the size and story the most.
Fantasy in Sand is in Arlington now until August 23rd. Then they are off to a new city…
