Slim Jim has always been one of my teen’s favorite snacks.  They are one of our road-trip staples.  We usually buy the longer sticks however, I am loving the Slim Jim Original Smoked Snack Sticks that I found at Walmart.  The smaller size is perfect for stocking stuffers and creating Christmas themed gifts.

My son and I turned a few of our Slim Jim sticks into reindeer ornaments.  Aren’t they cute?  I know his teacher will love it.

While at Walmart I ventured to the craft section and picked up a pack of wiggle eyes, brown pipe cleaners, curling ribbon and a package of sequins to make our reindeer.

The 26 count of Slim Jim Original was found near the popcorn.  This package is ideal for the holidays.  Whether you are hosting a get together or attending one, Slim Jim Original Snack Sticks provide a salty snack with a unique, bold and spicy taste.

How to Make an Edible Reindeer Ornament

Since I was not opening the individual Slim Jim packages, I had to glue back the extra wrapper so only the front of the stick was showing.  Add a small thin line of glue to the edge of the package and press together.  Once all three packages have their edges glued back, you glue each stick side by side giving them a little curve.

Next I added the red nose for the reindeer.  To give some dimension to the nose I added sequins in several sizes to build upwards.  Gluing the largest sequin down first and working my way up until I added the smallest size in the package.

To make the wiggle eyes pop I added green sequins behind them.  Just a very small dab of glue will work.

To make the reindeer antlers I used one brown pipe cleaner folded in half.  Then I bent each half back and forth until I had the look of an antler on each side.  The curling ribbon was looped and glued to the back between two of the sticks.

Once the glue dries – which is almost instantly – your reindeer are ready to hang on the tree.

They also look adorable attached to a Christmas present.  Such an easy way to add some decoration to a gift box that is creative and edible.  They are a fun surprise to find inside a stocking as well!  You can even attach them to a bottle of water or a favorite soda for your child’s teacher this season.

They are almost too cute to eat.  However, my son had no problem tearing them apart to munch down on the Slim Jim snacks.

How will you gift Slim Jim snacks this holiday season?
