Eating Gluten-Free While Visiting Dollywood
Having a gluten sensitivity can be a challenge when traveling. Heck, it is a challenge when eating at restaurants close to home. The first thing I do when traveling to a new place is search for their gluten-free food options. When entering a restaurant I ask for a gluten-free menu and when visiting a theme park I search to see what is available.
I was pleased to see that Dollywood offered more than the usual salad, fresh fruit and packaged gluten-free items. They had a pretty extensive list of food available and the food allergens to be aware of.

The first thing I noticed on their gluten-free menu options were the ribbon fries. I love french fries and they are not always easy to find at restaurants due to being fried in the same oil as other breaded items. Dollywood’s ribbon fries are handmade right in the park. They were delicious!
For our sit down lunch the family decided to eat at Backstage. Their food and service was that of a full restaurant. Not what I would expect at an amusement park. Everyone was satisfied. The gluten-free bun on my hamburger was the softest bread I have ever eaten. I normally try to avoid most gluten-free substitutes because usually they do not taste the same. This bun was so thick and soft that I ate some of it with butter instead of just on my burger.
Our family had such a good time at Dollywood. We try to go to Dollywood each time we visit family in Gatlinburg, Tennessee.
Full Disclosure: Our family received two complimentary tickets to Dollywood to assist in our review. We visit Dollywood when we go to TN to visit family regularly and always enjoy it. All opinions are 100% my own.
Dollywood is a must do event while in Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg, TN. There’s enough to do in the park to last an entire day and it is very family friendly. Which gluten-free item would be your meal choice?
Thank you for your list of gluten-free foods at Dollywood. It is helping us to decide whether it’s worth going there for a day with our daughter with celiac. I just have one question. How are Rice crispy treats gluten-free? Rice crispies contain barley malt syrup or flavoring. Unless they’re using gluten-free rice crispies but that’s hard to believe
Had the burger and GF bun at Dollywood- just finished eating. It’s delicious!
Just wondering if you’ve been to Dollywood recently. I know things can change and I am unable to find Backstage Restaurant on the Dollywood site at all. When I called was told they are “updating the site”.
Thank you

Here is the new list of options. Please note, they changed the offerings from Gluten Free to Gluten Friendly. We were just there this past weekend but decided to leave before eating. I was not willing to chance it and get sick for the rest of our trip.
You can also call to talk to someone. I have not done this yet.

Rice crispy streets do contain gluten. They no longer make gluten free rice crispy.
