Dutch Branch Park and Duck Pond Fun

| |

Today we spent a couple of hours at the park.  It was nice.  We took all of our old bread and the ends of the loaf of bread to feed the ducks at the pond.  The fish were even eating some of the bread and so was one turtle.  Gabby was also feeding the black birds.

Quick tip: never toss out any bread, even after it’s out of date because the free activity of letting the kids feed the ducks is priceless.

Let's Play, Playground, Feeding Ducks

The kids had so much fun playing on the playground as well.  I swung them, slide down slides with them and climbed up the castle area towers.  We got our exercise in and we sweated, a lot.  This Texas heat is brutal.  Thank goodness the park did have plenty of shaded area to rest in and a water fountain.

KaBOOM is kicking off a new summer play initiative called Park-a-Day Summer Challenge 2011.  I registered to receive more information and also added my review of the Dutch Branch Park to their map.  I think it’s great to get outdoors and play with your kids.  It’s healthy for everyone and builds great relationships in the family.  I had so much fun during the Let’s Play build in New Orleans that I keep an eye out on updates from KaBOOM!

Do you take your kids to play at a favorite playground?  Do you have a swing set in your yard?
