DIY Remembrall – Harry Potter Craft
Are you a Harry Potter fan? If you are like our family, then you are probably counting down the days until Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald releases in theaters – we seriously cannot get enough of these stories. To countdown to the second Fantastic Beasts movie opening in theaters, we are doing a weekly series over the next 12 weeks, starting with Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone. For this week’s craft, I made this simple DIY Remembrall.
Do you remember this fun magical ball that Neville receives in the dining hall during the first Harry Potter film? When he holds the ball his grandma sent him, the cloud of smoke turns red inside – letting him know he has forgotten something. You can turn this craft into a Harry Potter Christmas ornament or simply remove the topper and make it a ball that sits on your shelf or is passed around to see what your family has forgotten during their day.

If you have ever made a Galaxy jar or other Nebula crafts then you may have used cotton balls to resemble clouds. I used this method to make it look like smoke inside the ball. The fluffy cotton gave the appearance of different levels of smoke like the Remembrall from the movie.
First, you’ll mix your red paint and water in a jar or cup. This gives the red color while making it more liquidy than straight paint. Spread out your cotton balls with your fingers and then push into the ornament. I used a toothpick to spread around and fill the jar. I added a dash of red glitter to give some sparkle but this is completely optional.
Once your cotton is in place, pour your paint mixture on top. Not too much that it leaks out of your ornament, but enough to cover all of your cotton.
The Remembrall from the films has a golden ring around it. I found this gold glitter ribbon and added a few dabs of hot glue to hold it into place.
You can also glue the ornament topper in place and seal around the edges to prevent any leaks. This craft is easy enough for kids to make! Have a Harry Potter fan in the family? Make a DIY Remembrall for a gift this Christmas.
