We love entertaining and hosting friends and family at our place. With a big outdoor yard, we love having cookouts. Anywhere from firing up the grill to preparing s’mores on our outdoor fire pit, we never entertain without food. To celebrate the spring and summer months, I put together this fun DIY Paper Flower Place Setting Craft tutorial.
Scrapbook Paper Flower Place Setting Craft
I’m sure you have seen the cute scrapbook paper flower tutorials floating around the internet. I love how easy they are to make. With a 2″ hole punch you can whip out several flowers in no time. Making these the easiest option for decorating your table for summer.
Each flower takes eight 2″ circles. You can punch the circles out of any pattern or color scrapbook paper. I used scrapbook paper that was double sided and a watercolor design, to give the petals a more realistic look.
Set one circle to the side for your flower base. The other seven circles you will need to fold into a petal design. You’ll give the circle a triangle look by folding each side inwards to create a point at one end with the top making a half circle.
After you fold each of the seven circles into paper flower petals, you can start gluing the petals to your eighth circle to hold together. There is no need to secure the edges of the petals down. If you crease the paper they will stay flat enough, allowing for a little lift to give your flower life.
I used scrapbook paper that matched our table settings. I love the new summer colors on the Dixie Summer Seasonal products you can find at Dollar General right now.
These limited edition designs make me happy. I love the teal, pink, purple, and coral colors combined. I picked up three packages, two different sizes and three different designs. I am not sure which are my favorite but I do love the arrows. The attractive designs are printed on five layers and 50% stronger than the leading store brand.
I found them on the seasonal aisle at my local Dollar General for only $3 per package. Such an affordable price for summer entertaining.
The Soak Proof Shield™ can handle anything from salad dressing to burger grease. We also love serving tacos with salsa and queso, and we hate when the plates get soggy quick. These Dixie Everyday Limited Edition plates hold up to our large parties, are cut-resistant, and microwavable, which makes reheating leftovers a breeze.
To turn an ordinary scrapbook paper flower into a place setting holder, follow the above steps but do not push down the paper flower petals. Let them stand lifted up halfway. This will give you a place to set the place setting card or photo.
I used a cute online template for Instagram photos to mark each place setting. This adorable template was easy to customize.
I added:
- The name of our event – Spring Soiree
- The location – Best Party in Texas
- The icon/profile image – a spring flower
- Number of photo likes – 2018 for the year
- Fun event hashtags
Then for each place setting card that I printed, I replaced the name on the Instagram template with the name of the guest or their IG username, added their photo and a fun caption. You can use photos of your guests that you already have or grab one of them from their Facebook or Instagram. They will be surprised when they get to your event!
After you have your paper flowers made, set them in the center of your Dixie plate. If you want to lay down your Instagram place setting cards, you can lay the scrapbook paper flower next to them to hold them onto the plate. This is useful if it is windy outside.
Otherwise, use the paper flower as a stand to hold the place setting card.
This place setting craft turned out so cute and everyone loved them. Your guests can take them home after the event to place on their desk.
