I love mason jars.  From baking to crafting, I always find myself incorporating mason jars somehow.  When looking for something to hold my Extra® Gum Spearmint, I knew I wanted to decorate a mason jar for my desk.  Below are steps for a DIY Mason Jar Craft.

Supplies

  • Mason Jar – I used 1/2 pint
  • Paint – color of choice
  • Sponge Brush
  • Mod Podge
  • Glitter – color of choice

add paint to mason jar

Pour paint into your mason jar.  Fill the bottom with plenty of paint to spread across the inside of your jar.

twist jar for paint to cover

paint cover the inside of jar

Twist your jar around so the paint runs to all sides.  Slowly tilt your mason jar until the paint comes to the edge of your jar.  If you don’t have enough paint, add a little more.  As you get the entire inside of your jar covered in your paint color of choice, slowly pour out any excess.

I was able to save some paint by pouring back into my paint bottle.

let paint run out

Sit your mason jar upside down on a piece of cardboard or old newspaper.  Wait about 20 minutes and move the jar to another spot.  Continue to do this until all of the excess paint is out of the jar.  It is a slow process but you don’t want any paint to build up at the bottom.

Then turn the jar upright and let it dry for several hours, maybe even overnight.

line jar with tape

Now it’s time to glitter the outside.  Use tape to make a straight line around your jar.  I decided to cover the bottom quarter of the jar with glitter.

add mod podge for glitter

Add Mod Podge to the section of your jar that you plan to apply glitter to.  Overlap the Mod Podge onto the tape, slightly.

add glitter to mason jar

Now sprinkle your glitter heavily over the Mod Podge while it is still wet.  Once you cover the entire surface, remove the tape.  If you see a few small areas that are missing glitter after the tape is removed, sprinkle more on.

let glitter dry

Sit the jar uptight to allow the Mod Podge and glitter to dry.  Once it is dry you can dust off the glitter on the top of your mason jar.

CVS Extra Gum

I love that I’m able to find my favorite gum next to the checkout at CVS.  While there picking up my daughter’s monthly prescription, I can grab the new Extra® Gum Spearmint 35-stick pack.

It is rare for you to find me without a stick of Extra® Gum Spearmint in my purse, vehicle, or office.  The new packs are durable with a snap closure lid and recycled packaging – perfect to toss into your purse without the fear of your gum being smashed.

add Extra gum

My husband enjoys Extra® Gum Polar Ice® flavor.  The new Extra® Gum Spearmint 35-stick pack is just right for splitting between my office and purse.

Save $1.00 on the new 35-stick pack of Extra® Gum Spearmint or Extra® Gum Polar Ice®
