DIY Harry Potter Key Fob – Gryffindor Keychain
During our countdown to Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald series, I am loving all these simple Harry Potter crafts we are creating as a family. This DIY Harry Potter Key Fob – Gryffindor Keychain was easy to make and looks great on my keys or my son’s school backpack.

Harry Potter Key Fob Supplies
Start by measuring out your ribbons. Depending on the size of the key fob you want, you will want to double the length of your ribbon. For instance, I made mine 5″ long so my ribbons were cut 10″ since they fold over to make the wristlet.
After cutting your ribbons, lay out the red – wider ribbon – to measure for the slits to weave the second ribbon. You will want to cut your slits every inch, just wide enough to weave the second ribbon without cutting all the way to the edge.
Slowly weave your yellow or smaller width ribbon in and out of your larger ribbon. Pull slowly through until it reaches the same length.
We used red and yellow ribbons to create a Gryffindor keychain. This provided the same look as the scarves that the students wore in the Gryffindor House from Harry Potter.
After you complete your ribbons, it is time to add your key fob hardware. Line up your ribbons on the inside of your key fob hardware to them squeeze close with pliers.
I wrapped tissue against the pliers with painters tape. This provided a cushion on the pliers so the metal did not scratch the silver key fob.
Now add your Harry Potter Key Fob to your keychain or hang from a backpack for a little Harry Potter decor.
