Our family loves Easter. Each year we host a huge Easter egg hunt at our home for all our family and friends. Usually, around 40 people come and the hunt includes over 600 eggs! Although my kids are getting older, they still love it. Putting together Easter baskets as gifts is a tradition that I will always do, even beyond their teen years. Gabby is turning 16 the week of Easter so I made her this DIY Flower Easter Basket that I know she will love.

  • Basket of your choice in shape and size
  • Faux moss
  • Faux flowers
  • Hot Glue Gun + Glue
  • Spray Mod Podge

I bought two small bags of moss and did not even use one full bag. There is a lot of moss crammed into those bags and it spreads out to cover a lot of area. It also gets very messy but that’s all in the fun. I recommend working in small sections. Add hot glue to your basket and then smash down the moss. It is okay if some of it is not fully glued down or is flaking off.

Next, pull your flowers off the plastic stems. The silk flowers will pop right off and you can glue them down. I found gaps in my moss to glue the flower and cover the basket. Spread them out as much as you want or cover the whole side in flowers.

I loved all the faux flowers that are now on display for spring. I couldn’t make up my mind on just one type so I decided to cover each side of the basket with different flowers and colors.

Once everything is glued down, it is time to seal it in place. I used a can of spray Mod Podge to cover the area and it helped hold some of the loss moss pieces down. I recommend spraying a light layer over the flowers and moss outdoors. The fumes can smell strong if spraying inside.

Teen Easter Basket Filler

Now comes the best part! Adding the best goodies to your teen’s Easter basket. We cannot have a flower covered basket without a bunny inside. The DOVE® Solid Milk Chocolate Bunny 4.5oz looks perfect in the basket. Almost too pretty to eat!

I love how fun the packaging of all the Mars candy is, plus it’s inexpensive. The SKITTLES® $1 Bunny Tube and STARBURST® $1 Jellybean Egg were a must-have in my daughter’s basket.
