Cirque Du Soleil – OVO

|

Cirque Du Soleil is now touring in the United States with their show OVO where the world of colorful insects meets the energetic and acrobatic circus.

One of my favorite acts was the juggling ants.  I caught myself holding my breath in anticipation while they juggled all sorts of odd shaped fruit, tossing it back and forth between one another with their feet.  It was literally amazing.  The whole time I kept staring in awe wondering how old they possibly could be since they looked so young yet were so talented!

The high flying trapeze artists were astounding and the way the floor gymnasts were able to twist their bodies into a pretzel shape was beyond impressive.  A mixture of trampoline action and rock climbing wall brought to life flying insects with a touch of spider ability.

We purchased the Tapis Rouge VIP Experience.

Taken from the Cirque Du Soleil OVO website:

One hour before the show and during intermission, Tapis Rouge takes you into the sensational world of Cirque du Soleil.
The Tapis Rouge VIP Experience includes:

  • Preferred seating
  • Complementary parking
  • Access to the Tapis Rouge suite via an exclusive entrance one hour before the show and during intermission
  • An array of mouth-watering hors d’oeuvres, fine wines and refreshments followed by desserts during intermission
  • Unique multimedia entertainment and original music in a stunning décor with a relaxed atmosphere
  • A Tapis Rouge souvenir
  • A souvenir program
  • Priority purchasing of Cirque du Soleil merchandise in the Tapis Rouge boutique
  • Private restrooms, terrace and coat check service

The whole experience was amazing.  We were gifted professional photos upon entrance to the Tapis Rouge as well as a full color program to take home which included a sheet of stickers for the kids.  The complimentary food and wine, champagne, beer or soda was a nice treat.  The hor d’oeuvres ranged from a roast beef carving station, cheese table and fruit to sushi, teriyaki chicken wrapped in cotton candy, lamb chops and edible orchids filled with cranberry chicken salad.  During intermission we were brought back into the Tapis Rouge tent to experience an amazing display of desserts which included a chocolate fountain with fruit, pretzels and marshmallows, mini red velvet cupcakes, strawberry smoothies and bite sized funnel cakes.  During intermission it was an open bar as well.

If you purchase the Tapis Rouge level tickets then your seats are front and center of stage.  However in my opinion there are no horrible seats from the looks of it.  The far left of stage would be the least desirable due to props and the net getting in the way.  I always prefer center of stage but even the farthest back wouldn’t be considered the ‘nose bleed’ section.  The closer to stage the more details you can see in the costumes and facial expressions, but I’d rather pay the lowest rate and see the show than miss it due to cost.  There are also several acts where the cast members venture into the audience, including the second level seating.

Out of four Cirque Du Soleil shows I rank OVO one of my favorites.  I highly recommend seeing it.  The show is also great for kids.

  1. Ryan thought about taking me to one of their shows when we were in Downtown Disney… but it was going to be like $120/person!!! We couldn’t believe it. lol

It does look really amazing tho!

    1. The tickets are very expensive. It’s just like going to a Broadway show. However I love Cirque Du Soleil so once a year it’s a nice splurge. The cost is the main reason I mentioned how great the seats were even further back so people will know it’s okay to spend $45 and still see a great show. Even at that level you won’t feel like you are in the nose bleed section at all.
