My favorite season is fall, but I dread the early dark hours. Living in the country it gets pretty dark at night and can make my house feel like a dungeon. When I was asked to test out the motion-activated lights by Jasco I knew it would be a perfect fit to share tips on how to brighten your home this fall. Jasco sent me three different GE Motion-Activated LED Night Lights. I knew immediately I was going to place one in the bathroom, one in my daughter’s room and one in the kitchen or living room. The lights provide safety for all of our family members to get around at night, especially me. I get up more often than my kids do.
The darker metal matched my bathroom well. Our main bathroom has two entry doors, one from a bedroom and one from the hallway. Since the nightlight is motion-activated up to 20-25 feet away, it kicks on no matter what direction you enter from.
The best part is it provides enough light to use the restroom, walk across the room, or check on a child without the need to turn on a bright overhead light. This helps me have an easier time falling back to sleep afterwards. Whenever I turn on the full room light I am less likely to go back to sleep. The brighter lights wake me up, no matter what time it is.
Installing the lights is simple. Just like a normal plugin nightlight, the GE Motion LED Light goes right into an electrical outlet. The main difference is, instead of the light staying on the entire night, it goes off after 90 seconds of no activity. As long as you are up moving around in the room the light stays on. But it will not waste your electricity by staying on all hours.
The motion sensor is directly in the front of the nightlight. The bar goes across the center, capturing movement from a wide angle.
Our daughter sometimes wakes up in the middle of the night. Instead of stumbling into her room and reaching for a light switch, we can now use these motion-sensing lights to light the pathway. This will help prevent us from tripping over her wheelchair or making any noise. Usually, she just needs help being adjusted in her bed. As parents we have gotten pretty good at doing this almost in our sleep, except when turning on bright lights. The soft white light from the GE Motion-Activated LED Night Lights is a perfect solution.
I even installed one near our Great Dane’s crate. Cooper loves to climb into his crate at all hours, without being told. It’s his quiet place to relax. He is the only dog I have ever owned that gets up in the middle of the night to go out. I swear you would think he was either a puppy or an old man as often as he pees. Having the motion-activated light helps shine some brightness on his pathway to the backdoor without being lit up all night.
