Black Friday Survival Kit
This post is written by me on behalf of Tyson Foods, Inc. All opinions are entirely my own.
It has been a family tradition to go Black Friday shopping since I was a teen. I remember my mom and aunt always went shopping on Black Friday when I was a child. After eating lunch with the family on Thanksgiving Day, we all sat down and went through the ads. The kids would circle the items they were wishing for. Then the ladies would head out with ads in hand. Now with so much shopping done online, Black Friday is the one day a year that I stick with the tradition of visiting the stores.
I’m not sure if it is the rush of getting a good deal or just the fun of keeping true to the tradition of shopping with my mom, but we love it. For over ten years now my best friend has been going with us and sometimes my sister joins. When my daughter turned 18 she participated until she left with the military. I cannot even tell you a single item in a Black Friday ad that I’m going for this year but I’ll be out shopping!
Black Friday Survival Kit
While we are packing up the leftovers from Thanksgiving, we pack our Black Friday Survival Kit. The one thing I dislike about Thanksgiving is all the turkey for days… Does your family have leftovers they eat on until you are so tired of the meal you are ready for another full year before celebrating again? The easy way to do leftovers is to toss a plate of the same exact food you previously ate into a microwave and heat it up. How boring is that?
For some, Black Friday shopping is avoided due to the long lines and massive crowds. That doesn’t bother us a bit! We talk for hours and laugh to the point we forget we are in line. We end up making friends with strangers and laughing at the chaos around us. The one thing that gets us down is hunger. Some years we shop for over 12 hours! We spend more time browsing stores, looking at Christmas decor and spending gal time together than actually spending money. Plus, it’s no surprise to stand in line for over two hours at a single store.
Which is why we need food in our Black Friday Survival Kit.
Let’s Switch It Up
Adding bacon makes everything better! This Naturally Hickory Smoked Bacon from Wright® Brand is our go-to. Instead of packing up all the leftover turkey we set some aside for B.L.Turkey sandwiches!
This holiday season, Tyson® products are inspiring shoppers to try something new for the table, helping transform the functional dishes hosts can make, bring or pass on as a gift. Tyson® products are the key ingredient to recipes and recipe hacks that can be enjoyed any time of day during the busy holiday season, which makes it perfect for our Black Friday shopping.
Instead of coming home between stores and eating leftover turkey and dressing, this gives us a different meal that’s easy to pack and go.
How do you cook your bacon? I love mine extra crispy, whereas my daughter takes her bacon off a little earlier than I do. Either way, Wright® Brand Hickory Bacon adds that touch of sweetness to your turkey sandwich that you’ll love. Plus, Thanksgiving Day kitchen cleanup takes long enough that you can cook up some bacon in a skillet at the same time. Making it an easy way to switch up your Black Friday meal.
Doesn’t this sandwich look yummy? It is! After layering our B.L.Turkey sandwich ingredients we pack it up into our tote bag.
During the busy holiday season with numerous mouths to feed, there are many moments to share meals together beyond the big dinner. By packing our Black Friday lunch to go, we are able to enjoy another meal together.
While we are making meal to-go, all of the kids will make their Christmas wish lists and go through the paper ads. It is the one week of the year that we actually buy the newspaper instead of reading digitally. Then we will gather the ads for each of the stores we plan to visit and stuff them in our tote bag.
