The end of football season is upon us with the Big Game just around the corner. Are you planning to host a game watch party? I’m sharing an easy way to put together the best cheese plate for your game day party.
Setting out a spread for your guests to enjoy with little hassle or mess, allows you to spend more time gearing up for the game. You can either deck out your table in the colors of your favorite team or go with a general football setup like I did.
To make this football field tablecloth I used green felt and white duck tape. I cut out the yard line numbers from white cardstock.
Yellow penalty flags serve as napkins and go great in these little tins that resemble referees.
A fun way to serve drinks at your football watch party is by using an ice bucket to keep your Coca-Cola bottles chilled. For crisp, cold taste, serve ice-cold by putting out some cups for your guests to fill with ice and pour their own drink.
A football watch party isn’t complete without Coca-Cola. I love serving the bottles with lids instead of the cans. It cuts back on waste. We also leave a marker out for our guests to write their initial on the lid or name on their cup.
How to Put Together the Best Cheese Plate
The key to making a great cheese plate is a variety of more than just cheese. We started with three different cheese types. One with a slight kick – pepper jack, one that is the most popular – sharp white cheddar, and then one soft cheese – which is my favorite!
Along with cheese on the plate, we put olives. My teens still only eat the black olives but the green olives are my favorite.
I cut fresh apple slices and add bunches of red grapes throughout the cheese plate.
When serving a cheese plate you have to remember the best part of all, the crackers! I love the rich buttery flavor of RITZ crackers and they are perfect for dipping or topping with your slices of cheese.
My sad attempt at making a football shape out of crackers.
We also offered a spinach dip alongside our cheese plate.
To up your game day decor, add football party themed food picks to your cheese plate.
Now that your table is set, all you have to worry about is which team you are cheering for.
