An American Girl Story – Melody 1963: Love Has to Win
This announcement is brought to you by Amazon.
This week Gabby and I got the opportunity to screen the upcoming new release An American Girl Story – Melody 1963: Love Has to Win. This Amazon Original was both a touching and inspiring story. Set in 1963 this American Girl Story brings to the forefront tough conversations about racism.
Driven by her strong sense of justice and encouraged by her mother to lift her voice, Melody must find the inner strength to restore her hope for a better world.
I love how filled with passion Melody is. When dealing with racist bullies at school, she stays true to her beliefs without dropping to their level. Her faith for mankind is tested but her mother does not allow her positive demeanor or views of others to change.
I love how genuine and loyal her mother is while remaining so positive throughout her own life trials and struggles. Although they are tested to what would be considered past most people’s limits, they keep going strong and are happy.
American Girl Story – Melody 1963: Love Has to Win
I feel like this film is the perfect movie to watch with children of all ages. It opens the dialogue up to discuss racism, bullying and friendships with your kids. I wish I could say that racism ended before 1963 and that it did not exist today, but we know that is not the case.
This family-friendly film can be used as a great lesson in the form of entertainment. It pulls on the heartstrings and my teenage daughter enjoyed watching Melody persevere.
