Along Gabby’s rough journey we have come across some wonderful foundations. One being the Make-a-Wish Foundation who sent Gabby on her Wish trip before her brain surgery and recently we were blessed to meet the founders of the Hemispherectomy Foundation who support children that have undergone the same surgery as Gabby.
Over the past two months we have taken part in two separate 5K events. In our attempt to ‘give back’ to our community and both these wonderful foundations.
For the Make-a-Wish Foundation 5K our Team Gabby raised $700! That’s amazing to me. We were so proud of our team. A special thanks goes out to my mother: Linda Perrin, good friend: Alan, Gabby’s God-Parents: Heidi and Scott whom raised $200 alone, my sister: Babette Perrin and not shown above Gabby’s other grandma: Joye Blackwell. We walked in freezing weather and literally even saw snow flurries as when finished. Nevaeh, Heidi’s daughter, was such a trooper hanging in right by Gabby’s side. I’m proud of Tapanga for her great dedication too!
Although we joined the Hemispherectomy Foundation 5K at the last minute and were not able to raise donations we were able to donate $60 ourselves. We were just excited to be able to take part in an event that was honoring Gabby and what she’s been through. The day started at 6:45 AM with a down pour of rain creating mud puddles to later be splashed in. We first did the one mile fun run and right after went onto the 5K. I’m so proud of Gabby for hanging in there and walking the first two miles before requesting a back ride. Tapanga jogged the whole way; four miles! We walked in the rain, stomped in the mud and froze during the award cermony but the day was one of the greatest!

You have a great family and I’m so glad that we know all of you. Cris
