Spinach is the superfood of the month for Healthy Living Made Simple magazine in August. In honor of my love for fresh spinach leaves I’m sharing one of my favorite green smoothie recipes. Try this Strawberry Coconut Green Smoothie for a healthy, creamy and delicious on-the-go breakfast.
Strawberry Coconut Green Smoothie Ingredients
- 1 cup of Fresh Spinach Leaves
- 1 whole Banana
- 1 cup of Strawberries – fresh or frozen
- 1/2 Green Apple
- 1 cup of Coconut Milk
- Coconut Shreds – optional
I buy fresh strawberries, wash them and freeze. Fresh berries do not last as long and I like to purchase in bulk. By using frozen strawberries in my smoothie it eliminates the need for ice. If you use fresh strawberries you may want to add ice to your ingredient list.
We eat spinach leaves regularly in our home. From smoothies to salads, we go through a bulk supply. I love being a member of Sam’s Club so I can find organic baby spinach leaves at a reasonable cost.
When making my green smoothies I grab a handful of spinach leaves to toss in. I use about one cup in each smoothie.
First blend your spinach leaves, apple pieces and coconut milk together.
By blending your tougher ingredients first it will provide you with a smoother texture.
After your apple and spinach is fully blended, toss in your frozen strawberries (or fresh berries and ice) and banana into your blender.
The banana provides a creamy taste and natural sweetener. I use full fat coconut milk with no artificial sweetener.

Now top with your coconut shred and enjoy! This delicious green smoothie makes the perfect healthy breakfast or snack.
While picking up my green smoothie ingredients I also grabbed some fresh tomatoes. We make homemade pico weekly but I also love dicing up tomatoes for salads or sandwiches. By shopping in bulk at Sam’s Club we eat at home more often.
For a quick and healthy lunch option you can pair your green smoothie with a summer spinach salad topped with diced tomatoes and green apples. Use a vinaigrette dressing to keep it light.
Sam’s Club offers all of your family health needs. Did you know that Sam’s Club hosts free health screenings on the second Saturday of every month? The next health screening at our local Sam’s Club is Saturday, August 13th. Check with your local Sam’s Club to see what services they offer. I love how vested Sam’s Club is in the health of their members.
