Our family loves taking bike rides. We try to ride several evenings a week but plan our longer rides for the weekends. Spending time outdoors is our favorite way to bond, especially in the spring time. Below I’m sharing our Weekend Bike Ride Essentials to make the ride that much more enjoyable.
The key to turning a regular bike ride into a fun family day, is packing some essentials so you have no need to rush back home. We like to make a day of it when the weather is nice.
While shopping at Walmart I picked up some of the new Lorissa’s Kitchen snacks. I found them right in the checkout line and grabbed all three flavors available.
I love that Lorissa’s Kitchen is helping their consumers live the farm-to-table lifestyle with a delicious, portable protein snack. Packing protein for a long bike ride gives us the extra kick of energy that we need half-way through. Plus, it’s healthy!

- Small First Aid Kit – for longer rides
We love riding a couple of miles to our local bike trails and park. We always visit the beautiful water fountain they have there and stop to eat our snack before riding back. Usually we ride for about eight miles total. It is so important to not only have a healthy, energizing snack and plenty of water but also sunscreen to stay protected.
If you have little ones riding with you then I recommend a small first aid kit to help with those little scraps and bruises they may experience on a small fall. Bandaids always seem to make it better so they can make the trip back home.
Lorissa’s Kitchen is high in protein, low in carbs, low in fat, has no MSG, no preservatives and is gluten free. Along with grass-fed beef, they use responsibly raised pork. They use ingredients that you can find right in your own kitchen.
My son’s favorite is the Lorissa’s Kitchen Korean Barbeque Beef. I prefer the Lorissa’s Kitchen Szechuan Peppercorn Beef.
I used to go on bike rides a lot with an ex-boyfriend. We had a place we would stop and grab a snack and a breather too! Lorissa’s Kitchen (and water) sounds perfect.
