With all of the commercials, pressure, and stress to buy Christmas presents for everyone you know, it’s safe to say that it can be hard for even Christians to remember to keep Christ in Christmas. After all, He is the only reason for the season.
Here are some favorite verses for the upcoming season that will help us keep remember Jesus is the reason for the season. The next time you’re feeling overwhelmed or unsure, just reference these verses to remember God’s promises for our lives.
For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. ~ Isaiah 9:6
God sent His son to earth and Christmas is the time to celebrate this wonderful time in history. Is the date right? Not necessarily, but we’ve set apart time to worship and celebrate God’s son coming to earth. Without this important time stamp in history our salvation would be invalid.
Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and they shall call his name Immanuel ~ Matthew 1:23
One of my favorite parts of the story of Jesus’ birth is how God used Mary. God has a special calling for all of us and Mary had an incredibly important one.
And the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. And behold you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus. ~ Luke 1:30-31
Can you imagine what Mary felt inside as she carried the savior of the world? She obeyed God and He blessed her for that. Can we say we’re following God’s will for our lives in the same light?
Him hath God exalted with his right hand to be a Prince and a Savior, for to give repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins. ~ Acts 5:31
Let us not forget the real reason God sent His only son to earth to die on the cross. God loves us so much that He was willing to sacrifice so much.
Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace among those with whom he is pleased! ~ Luke 2:14
This is one of my favorite bible verses of all time. It truly helps us remember to keep Christ in Christmas.
Isn’t it great to know that we can look in the bible and find verses that are directly from God’s word? I hope you can look back at these bible verses through the season and thank God for what He’s done for us. Let us not just look at these scriptures during this incredible season but year round, I pray we always have a thankful heart!
