10 Recipes for Summer Smoothies
Summer is here and the kids are out of school. We have pulled out our Nutribullet and are planning our summer smoothie lineup. Since I work from home I like to have quick yet healthy breakfast and snack ideas for the kids. Here are 10 Recipes for Summer Smoothies that we plan to make!
Although my kids love fresh fruit and yogurt, eating the same thing all the time gets boring. Plus, a smoothie just makes it more fun and is an easy way to sneak in some greens they may not normally eat. How often do you hear “I’m bored” during the summer when everyone is at home? Smoothies are even something the kids can help make!
10 Must-Try Smoothie Recipes for Summer
- Melon Soymilk Smoothie – using frozen berries makes having a smoothie any day of the week a breeze. I hate that when I buy fresh berries they only last three days. Mixing fresh with frozen helps guarantee you will have ingredients for the entire week. (image shown in collage)
- Strawberry Protein Energy Smoothie – let’s face it, you are trying to keep up with the kids this summer and need your energy. Why not get some energy with your refreshing fruits and protein? Plus it looks yummy. (image shown in collage)
- Blueberry Avocado Greek Yogurt Smoothie – you had me at avocado. Not only do I love me some avocado but it is also great for you. Did you know that avocados contain more potassium than bananas? It’s a fact. Greek yogurt is an easy way to get protein in the kids while dosing them with some probiotics in the most delicious way possible.
- Strawberry Pineapple Oatmeal Smoothie – this looks like a great breakfast smoothie. The only thing I will do slightly different is use regular plain yogurt instead of vanilla to cut back on the sweetness since it has pineapple juice in it. It might change the taste a little but my kids will still enjoy it.
- Green Smoothie without Kale – I’ll be honest, I love green smoothies but have never been a huge fan of kale. Or maybe I have just never prepared it correctly. Either way… I love that this recipe calls for coconut milk. (image shown in collage)
- Mango Avocado Smoothie – mango is another favorite fruit in our household. I love how this recipe sneaks in some spinach leaves but I bet you can’t even taste the difference. The mango is tasty enough that the kids won’t notice.
- Peaches and Vanilla Cream Smoothie – it’s time to mix it up. Berries are popular among smoothies, now how about some peaches?
- Banana Cashew Milk Smoothie – I look forward to trying this one simply for the fact I have never had cashew milk before. Silk Cashewmilk has 50% more calcium than dairy milk with only 60 calories per serving (25% less than skim milk), and it’s an excellent source of calcium and vitamin D – it sounds good so it’ll be worth a try. - Strawberry Grapefruit Smoothie – strawberries, raspberries, oranges and grapefruit? Now THAT’S a fruit smoothie! (image shown in collage)
- Orange Juice Fruit Smoothie – we cannot keep orange juice in the refrigerator for very long. Everyone in the house drinks it up. I know we will love this smoothie since orange juice is my go-to for adding liquid to a smoothie. (image shown in collage)
